Martina Hervat is a nature conservation expert with a background in marine biology and ecology, specialising in the management of protected areas, environmental monitoring, and habitat restoration. She coordinates the activities of CroMPA– the Croatian Marine Protected Area Network – an informal yet vibrant platform that connects all Croatian MPAs, NGOs, research institutions, and other organisations dedicated to marine conservation.
An alumna of the prestigious Klaus Töpfer Fellowship Programme for leaders in nature conservation from Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, led by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), she brings a strong international perspective to her work.
As Senior Advisor for Nature Protection at Brijuni National Park for the past seven years, she has been actively involved in a range of EU-funded projects and strategic initiatives focused on marine and coastal protection. Her professional interests include fostering collaboration across disciplines and exploring innovative technologies in natural heritage interpretation and the application of artificial intelligence in environmental research.
